Heavy rain smashed large parts of North India, causing landslides at a number of places in Uttarakhand to take away four lives. Four people were reportedly killed in Madkot, Pauri, Dharchula and Kappkot in Uttarakhand.
Water-logging was reported in several parts of Delhi. The city received rain overnight and water levels of most rivers in the region continue to rise. Traffic jams have also been reported. Patches of heavy rainfall hit the capital since Friday evening, totaling over 90mm. More rain was forecasted by the Meteorological Department for Saturday.
As Ganga rose past the danger line in Haridwar, Uttar Pradesh was issued an alert. Rising water levels are being seen in other rivers including Ramganga, Nandhur, Kailash, Kali-Sharda, Kosi and Gaula.
Although other parts of the country too rainfall, it has not been heavy at most places.
