An Air India crew member was reportedly taken into custody by the officials at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, allegedly for smuggling gold and currency.
The man who was caught had to board the Kochi bound flight alongside with 11 other crew fellows. Following the bitter incident, the Air India flight was operated with just 11 crew members instead of compulsory 12 cabin crew.
There is no official confirmation available from the AI authorizes over this row. Recently, several smugglers were caught at airports with loads of gold and ornaments in their private places, inner wears and in their luggages.
If the reports are believed to be true, the staff should also be screened to avoid any malpractices.
