From fine-tuning programs to increase yoga adoption to designing an Ayush camp for the elderly and a 500-bed Ayurvedic-run hospital, the Ayush ministry has rolled out a people-centric 3.0 concept in its first 100 days The Modi government has completed several projects, News18 has learnt. The ministry has selected several issues to be presented to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), including a policy on AYUSH research and innovation and a major foray into the international market for a range of herbal medicines. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi enters his third term, all federal ministries and departments have been directed to finalize a '100-day action plan'. These presentations will be made to the PMO next week and then to the Union Council of Ministers. Founded in 2014 under Prime Minister Modi, the Ayush Ministry stands for Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, Suva Rigpa and homeopathy. The growth potential of the Ayush market was also highlighted during the Covid-19 pandemic in India when Prime Minister Modi heavily promoted Ayush in his speeches and radio broadcasts. '.

‘100-DAY ACTION PLAN’

The ministry is working on several health projects. One is a project aimed at popularizing yoga in Indian families. "The final plan is still under discussion, but the idea is to increase the acceptance of yoga by promoting it to individuals and families in India," a government official familiar with the development told News18.

Moreover, according to the Niti Aayog report released in February this year, the ministry is developing a program for the elderly. According to the Senior Care report, the integration of AYUSH systems of elder care through elder care, wellness and therapy activities offers a great opportunity to address the health problems of the elderly.

“AYUSH camps can be organized in various places in India. "In these camps, special clinics - like OPD - can be set up free of charge or at a small cost for the elderly," the official said, adding that the social justice ministry had earlier approached the AYUSH ministry with ideas to help the elderly.

According to a Niti Aayog report, the official said, "The increasing demand of the elderly population for preventive medicines with little or very few side effects will drive the AYUSH market."

There are also plans to expand the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi to add 300 seats from the existing 200 seats. An additional 12 hectares of land has been allocated for AIIA and infrastructure clearance work is already underway by the Ministry of Urban Development.

"The second stage of the AIIA can be opened. Panchakarma is the most popular treatment offered in this hospital and the extension wing helps to extend this treatment along with other services.

Panchakarma is an Ayurvedic treatment that involves pancha (five) karmas (actions) that help cleanse the body of accumulated toxins, thereby restoring health.
