Romeo and Juliette were born hours apart on Friday at the Leesburg Regional Medical Center to different parents surprised to learn about their babies Shakespearean connection. The seven-pound Juliette Crouch was born at 8:26 a.m. and the 8-pound Romeo Kidd was born just down the hallway 5 ½ hours later.

Headlines about two babies born on March 19 in a South Carolina hospital whose names matched with the William Shakespeare’s most famous sweethearts went viral. That baby girl’s name is spelled as “Juliet,” as Shakespeare wrote it.

For the Kidd and also the Crouch families, the births came with the other coincidences. Juliette’s mother, Marie Crouch and Romeo’s mother, Carolyn Kidd, are aged 32 and also each has a 2-year-old daughter. Kidd and her husband, Dana, live in the Leesburg, and Crouch and her husband, Justin, live in the neighboring Fruitland Park.

In the South Carolina, the hospital’s newborn photographer noticed the connection and also photographed the two babies together. The images were later published by the numerous news organizations, including the Time magazine and USA Today.

Because of the privacy laws surrounding the health care system, the two families of the Shakespeare’s “star-crossed lovers” in Leesburg almost did not meet.

A nurse who asked Carolyn Kidd her baby’s name was not able to tell her where Juliette’s family was in the hospital’s maternity ward. As a result, the families of Romeo and also Juliette began searching for each other.

Justin Crouch, who was named as the Lake County Teacher of the Year in 2015, searched for his daughter’s name in the number of history books and “of course, everybody knows the play,” he said. Crouch said that he wanted to keep up his family’s tradition, naming the members with “J” names.

Nurses were overjoyed by the union of the two babies and also gathered to snap photos with their phones. Later, the hospital dressed Romeo in tuxedo and also Juliette in a dress for more photographs.The couples promised to meet in the next year to celebrate their babies first birthday.

In “Romeo & Juliet,” in contrast, their families are mortal enemies.

Dana Kidd said that the legendary bard was an inspiration for his son’s name.
