N. Susheel Kumar, the ABVP leader from the University of Hyderabad, has demanded for a fair inquiry into the reason for the death of the Dalit scholar Rohith Vemula. Shusheel Kuamr was the one accused of abetting the suicide.
Mr. Susheel Kumar said at a press conference that Rohith was not a weak person to lose heart due to suspension. He added that there could be some “personal and particular” reasons behind the act. He questioned about how the fellow scholars of Rohith failed to identify the suicidal tendencies, in spite of being with him for two weeks.
The ABVP leader has reasserted his claim of attack from Ambedkar Students’ Association (ASA) members. He said that a 40-student mob forced him to write an apology and to upload in Facebook, which was a breach to his freedom of expression.
He said, “After that, I deactivated my account, and called my brother to come and take me to hospital. Noticing that I had deactivated my account, about 40 people from the ASA tried to mob me again.” He added that they abused his mother and tried to attack her inside the office of Vice-Chancellor. He produced to media the footage of his mother’s visit to the V-C’s office. However, there was no evidence of any attack or abuse therein.
Mr. Susheel Kumar also produced a two-page hospital summary containing the reason for his admission into the hospital, which said “blunt trauma to abdomen” with appendicitis and a contusion on the left shoulder.
The ABVP demands for a CBI enquiry and the phone data analysis of the other four students, whom they suspect to be the part of the suicide, besides “40 professors,” who allegedly instigated “anti-national” activities within the campus.
