The Dark Knight is back! And this time, the superhero is looking sharper, more chiseled and more brutal than ever.
Direct Zack Snyder teased the first image of his yet untitled sequel — a follow-up of his next Batman Vs Superman flick “Man of Steel” (2013) — in Twitter on Tuesday.
Starring Ben Affleck as Batman, the first image revealed a stocky, glowering Affleck alongside a new, hulking, brute ride, covered mostly in tarp ( to keep the excitement alive!).
Like the prequel, which rebooted Superman, Snyder's new film will feature Henry Cavill as the mighty Superman while Gal Gadot will join him as the Wonder Girl.
Ben Affleck's wife, Jennifer Garner, had previously described the new Batman suit as a "total reinvention", and the changes are well evident in the first glimpse.
The new Batman costume has stubbier ears, a grubby matte finish, and a bulging body, big enough to make even Christian Bale's look lean.
Although the film is yet to have an official name, everyone’s been referring to it as either Batman vs. Superman movie. Speculations about the box office potential of the film has been rampant. And as more images and buzz hit the web, the hype is likely to grow bigger.
Snyder's first pic of the new Batman, taken through his Leica M Monochrom digital camera, is unarguably the single best first-look of a Batman suit we have ever had. The black and white, the smoke, the somber tone, all just perfectly resonates Batman's character in the upcoming movie.
Also worth noting is Affleck’s size. His arms and that chest looks big and wide, enough to silence the nay-sayers. The suit seems heavily inspired from Frank Miller and Jim Lee's comic book, a good move.
With the first look out now, Warner Bros. can stay assured that talks around Batman would dominate the discussion for the rest of the week. And we’re still awaiting our first look of Wonder Woman costume and Henry Cavill’s newly tweaked Superman outfit, which means there is a lot more to look forward to in the future.
This film will reach the cinemas sometime in 2015.
