Spanish director Juan Antonio Bayona has finnaly found financers and distributors for his next project. The acclaimed director will film an adaptation of Children's fantasy novel 'A Monster Calls'.
The movie adaptation of A Monster Calls will be financed by River Road Entertainment, Lionsgate International, Participant Media and Focus Features.
Focus domestically, Universal Pictures International will distribute the film's theatrical and home entertainment release in Spain. While Lionsgate International will distribute the film all over the world.
'A Monster Calls' will be a drama based on a young boy who takes help of fantasy to deal with his mother’s illness and his classmates who bully him. His fantasy world has monsters and fairy tales that deal with faith, courage and loss.
The award-winning novel for children was authored by Patrick Ness, who is also writing the script for the filmi adaptation.
The film is being planned for fall 2016 release.
