The newlyweds, George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin, made their first appearance post wedding near the banks of the Grand Canal after tying the knot in Venice on Sunday.

The photogs snapped them smiling and waving from the motorboat as they exited the luxury Aman Canal Grande resort in the centre of Venice on Sunday morning.

The Hollywood hunk and his British-Lebanese wife glowed as they waved at the paparazzi.

The new bride gleamed in a cute mini dress, She even flashed her diamond wedding band as the couple zoomed out for sightseeing.

The wedding news was broken by Clooney's representative Stan Rosenfield who had put out a one-sentence statement announcing that he and the human rights lawyer had been "married today ... in a private ceremony in Venice, Italy".

The ceremony iwas held in English and was officiated by former Rome mayor Walter Veltroni, an old friend of Clooney.
