Better late than never! It might have taken three long years for the divorce to come, nevertheless it did.

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony are officially divorced now. A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge signed off the papers this week, acknowledging the split in the eyes of law.

Although the split was finalized for all intents and purposes in March this year, the final judgment had to wait due to court backlog.

The musical superstars ended their 7 years of marriage in July 2011. Calling it quits, they said in a joint statement: “This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters.”

The 44-year-old Lopez walked down the aisle with 45-year-old Anthony in Beverly Hills in June 2004. Parents to six-year-old twins, Max and Emme, the duo have maintained cordial ties post split. We hear that J Lo even spoke to Anthony before recently breaking up with boy toy boyfriend Casper Smart.

Apparently, it was Anthony who filed for a divorce on April 9, 2012, pleading for joint legal and physical custody of the twins.

Lopez filed a response in December 2013 requesting the same. She also filed a plea to change her legal name from Jennifer Muniz (Anthony's real surname) back to Jennifer Lopez.

This was Lopez's third time walk down the aisle. In the past, she was wed to chef Ojani Noa from 1997 to1998 and backup dancer Cris Judd from 2001 until 2003. For “You Sang to Me” hitmaker, this was his second trip down the aisle. He was formerly married to former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres from 2000 until 2004.

Post split, Lopez hooked up with Smart in the spring of 2012 while Anthony began romancing model Shannon De Lima.

Later, Anthony moved on to Topshop heiress and Made in Chelsea reality star Chloe Green before splitting up recently.

Even after they decided to end the union, Lopez and Anthony continued to work together on the short-lived Univision talent competition Q'Viva! The Chosen. And unlike Anthony, she has been quite open about it.

"Sometimes it doesn't work - and that's sad. But I remain an eternal optimist about love. I believe in love," she said in a September 2013 Vanity Fair cover story.

Anthony revealed that he would love to get married again, with the right woman, that is.
