The Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi starrer romantic movie, Hamari Adhuri Kahani, has got special attention in the media after the government of Madya Pradesh exempted the entertainment tax. The courtesy call paid by producer Mahesh Bhatt and actress Vidya Balan to CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, resulted in this way, as per the allegations made by the state unit of Congress party.

The political critics are terming this as a kind of "Bollywood fascination" as the CM is increasing tax on necessary goods like petrol, diesel and electricity, but exempting the tax for commercial films. He recent exepted tax for Deepika Padukone starrer Piku movie and in August the state government had exempted tax for Rani Mukherjee starrer Mardaani.
