Now only if you thought that all Bollywood wedding extravaganza is limited to Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra movies, with the brides sashaying in designer trousseau and grooms striding in dapper sherwanis flocked by an entourage of decked up relatives dancing, wining and dining on gourmet foods in some exotic location and attended by who's who of the town, know that real-life Bollywood weddings are no less. It's true! Nothing beats a Bollywood sized wedding in size and splurge. Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra
Shilpa and Raj's fairytale romance culminated into an opulent wedding on November 22, 2009. And it was a big fat Indian wedding in the truest sense. The pretty bride looked ravishing in a bridal sari embellished with red swarovski crystals, worth Rs 50 lakh and designed by Tarun Tahiliani. Her 3 crore worth majestic kundan jewellery set with uncut diamonds and emeralds added to her grandiose. The groom stood out in a golden and maroon colored sherwani. But the wedding extravaganza don't end there. Apparently, Shilpa and Raj's nine tier wedding cake at their reception weighed a whopping 80 kgs!
Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan
Everything about this wedding was a grand, expensive affair, from Ash's mehendi to the lavish invites and from her wedding trousseau to his arrival in a sparkling white horse. It's rumored that 15 kgs of henna for Aishwarya's mehendi ceremony was brought from Sojat in Rajasthan. Ash's beautiful golden zari wedding trousseau was designed by her favorite designer Neeta Lulla. Abhishek looked regal in Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla's white and gold creation.
Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan
Kareena married Saif in a regal style, decked in her mother-in-law Sharmila's traditional joda. Saif and Kareena had booked two five star hotels in Mumbai for the functions and to put up their guests. A five star hotel in Gurgaon was also booked complete with a helipad! Considering an invite was sent to the President of India Pranab Mukherjee and his family, what else could we expect!
Genelia and Riteish Deshmukh
The five-day wedding extravaganza of Riteish and Genelia was a visual treat for the eyes. Hailing from different cultures, the wedding was solemnized as per the Maharashtrian customs followed by a Church wedding. Five star hotels were booked for the guests, a lavish spread was thrown for the high profile invitees. Apparently, their wedding cost them Rs 25 crore.
Avantika and Imran Khan
Imran and Avantika's mehendi ceremony was held at Avantika's parent's farmhouse in Karjat. To avoid any untoward incident and ensure tight security, the guests were given swipe cards to enter the venue. The couple's grant reception was hosted by Imran Khan's uncle Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao at Mumbai's expensive Taj Lands End hotel. Apparently, Karan Johar was the unofficial wedding planner for the do. For some of the ceremonies, Khan family's special chefs were flown from Lucknow to Mumbai to prepare delectable spread.
