A senior police official in Bengaluru reported that nearly 48 schools in the city received bomb threats via email this morning. In response, the authorities promptly evacuated the students and called upon the anti-sabotage and bomb squads of the city police to conduct thorough checks. However, the Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru City, B Dayananda, declared the threats to be a hoax. He took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to convey that while the calls appeared to be fake, every effort would be made to identify the culprits.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has instructed the police officials to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the bomb threats targeting the schools. According to police sources, these email threats bear similarities to those received by multiple schools in 2022. As a result, schools such as NEEV, KLAY, and Vidyashilp are currently undergoing thorough checks. The police sources further revealed that the emails, received on Friday, were sent from various addresses, with the IP address of origin cleverly concealed.

Parents have been allowed to bring their children back home as a precautionary measure, even in schools where no bomb threat was reported.
