Several countries are now shifting to Electric Vehicles to control the pollution and reduce the costs of travel. The future of automobiles is surely electric. There are predictions that the electric vehicles in India will be 30 percent by 2030 out of the total sales. There are also talks that most of the people who are using two-wheelers will shift to electric vehicles. Soon, the country will also witness electric vehicles in commercial transportation like buses and trucks. This will reduce the emission and can adopt a zero-emission ecosystem. All the electric vehicles powered by Hydrogen fuel cells are the zero-emission vehicles. They are called ZEVs. Hydrogen is more advantageous than lithium-ion or other types of batteries.

This is because hydrogen has a high energy density and for a lower weight, more fuel can be carried by the vehicle. The distance covered can be increased on a single refueling. There are quite fewer hydrogen stations in the country because of which the other form of electric mobility is used. Now the Indian government launched National Hydrogen Mission (NHM) which will boost the green hydrogen in India. This transforms the country into a global green hydrogen hum to produce and export the fuel. The National Hydrogen Mission allocated a budget of Rs 800 crores for the financial year of 2021-22. NHM will focus on funding pilot projects in the hydrogen sector.

Indian Oil and NTPCC are in plans to bring fuel cell buses to the Indian roads. They will be operational on a pilot basis this year and they are funded by NHM. The government schemes like FAME India, NHM, PLI and others will turn a boost for the electric vehicles. The transport sector alone contributes to 17 percent of the global emissions of carbon dioxide and the countries are focused on educating the people to convert to EVs for a clean transportation.
