Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections Prime Minister Narendra Modi comes up with #MainBhiChowkidar campaign to counter congress president Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’ jibe.

PM Modi on Saturday  tweeted a video with hashtag saying #MainBhiChowkidar

“Your Chowkidar is standing firm & serving the nation.

But, I am not alone. Everyone who is fighting corruption, dirt, social evils is a Chowkidar.

Everyone working hard for the progress of India is a Chowkidar. Today, every Indian is saying- #MainBhiChowkidar,” he tweeted.

As part of this campaign, Prime Minister Modi will also interact with people from across the country on March 31.

Words like "Chowkidar" and "Pradhan Sevak" have often used by PM Modi ever since he became Prime Minister in 2014.

However, Congress President Rahul Gandhi accused PM Modi using these very words while criticising him over alleged scam in Rafale figter Jet deal by saying "Chowkidar chor hai"

A similar strategy was adopted by the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha Polls, where in the party turned around senior Congress leader Manishankar Aiyar's "chaiwalla" jibe into a mass campaign.

The 2019 General Elections to be held in seven phases, will begin from April 11 and results will be declared on May 23.
