The Dehradun - Varanasi Janta Express has derailed in Bachharwan, near Rae Bareli. Two coaches of a train have derailed in Bachhrawan in Rae Bareli District. The incident occurred at the town's railway station. Rescue operations are presently underway and the injured are being rushed to nearby hospitals. The train that derailed is the Janta Express, which runs between Dehradun and Varanasi.

The train was about to come to a halt at the station, but it overshot because of a brake failure. The engine and two compartments are affected. The coaches collided into each other. One was a general compartment and the other was a guard compartment. Officials told that they do not expect the casualty numbers to be high, considering there wouldn't have been any passengers in the guard compartment. Bachhrawan is about 30 km from Rae Bareli, to the northwest.
