The Delhi high court on Friday reprimanded the government for installing 15,000 CCTV cameras within weeks ahead of US President Barack Obama's visit to the national capital city, but failed to accomplish needs of the citizens.

The court was hearing an application filed for the cameras which are installed for the security purpose of US Presidents visit to the national capital, should not be removed after the event following the many cases of women safety like the December 16 gang rape case.  

"Because of a foreign President you (government) do it, but not for Indian citizens. If we direct you to do it for Indians, you do in months and years, else you do it in weeks. Let's get someone from outer space," the court said.

Notices have been issued to Centre, Delhi government and the city police seeking the weather installed CCTV cameras will be removed. "Will you remove cameras? Notice. The Delhi governments and Delhi Police have asked time to revert on the notice. In response, court said Renotify on January 30," the bench said.

This was brought to notice of the bench on by application filled by the advocate Meera Bhatia. The application claimed that 15000 CCTV cameras installed by the government on ahead visit of US President Mr Barac Obama'svisit on Republic Day Parade should not be removed even after the event.

The application said that, "in light of the Nirbhaya case, it's evident that the Delhi law and order requires the camera installed (being installed for US President's arrival) should not be removed from some specific place like entry and exit point of the city. The other places in which crime rate zone".

Even earlier court directed the government to install CCTV Camera to track the rape cases and keep a vigil, it has not followed, claimed the application
