Unless you have been living under the rocks or hate social-media, there is no way you could have missed the kind of hype that the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections have stirred. From television to Twitter, and from You Tube to Facebook, it's the Modi wave that seems to have been inundating one and all.

There is little denying that the election campaign of BJP's PM-hopeful Narendra Modi has been extraordinary in more ways than one. And the support he has received from billions of Indian netigens has been phenomenal, to say the least.

From all the blogs, comments, infographics, videos and other content published, shared or debated on the Internet, it's clear that Modi's fan base extends across all kinds of people – intellectuals, commoners, and liberals. And now that Narendra Modi has clinched both Vadodara and Varanasi by huge margins, it's emerged that the Modi wave on social media played an all-important role in winning support directly for Modi, and not any party or group.

Buy it or not, but a lion's share of NaMo's success is to be attributed to his marketing campaign, funded extensively by the Corporate. Whether their undying faith in him was backed by his accomplishments in Gujarat or they were merely shocked  to see the intensity of the campaign is everybody's guess. But, one of the greatest social media campaigns promoting ‘Narendra Modi for PM’ was started off, sustained and steered ahead by a young team of 8  engineers and entrepreneurs who affirm that the campaign was purely self-driven and not a paid one.

What's interesting is that none of these young campaigners were associated with the BJP in any capacity. Strangely, the team kicked off its campaign in isolation and it was onlyl ater that its efforts were acknowledged and lauded by the BJP.

The team flagged off its campaign three years ago in 2011 when none dreamt of Modi becoming the next PM. The initiated their campaign with  ‘I Support Narendra Modi’ (ISN) Facebook page that boasts of 22 lac fans today.

The page went a long way in propagating the NaMo chant while at the same time emphasizing on the inefficiencies of the handicapped incumbent government. The team of 8 people, who now run a total of 26 Facebook pages and twitter handles, took out time from their day to day engagements to keep the NaMo chant alive on Facebook. Let's meet the behind-the-curtain Modi crusaders:
