Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi will file his nomination papers in Amethi today. Rahul is seeking re-election for a third consecutive term from Amethi Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will accompany her brother Rahul Gandhi for the event.

The party workers have made eleborate plans to make Gandhi's nomination today a grand affair. According to reports, 500 kgs of flowers have been arranged to welcome the 43-year-old Congress leader in Amethi.

Amethi will poll on May 7, the last phase in the nine-phase Lok Sabha election 2014.

Amethi Lok Sabha constituency will see a tough contest this general election. Rahul has to battle against BJP's actor-turned-politician Rajya Sabha MP Smriti Irani and AAP 's poet-turned-politician Kumar Vishwas inorder to retain Amethi the third time.

Lok Sabha elections 2014 in Amethi will also be a tough test for Priyanka, who is Rahul Gandhi's campaign manager. She has to ensure that Rahul gandhi replicates the 3.5 lakh-winning margin of 2009.
