As India kicked off world's biggest voting exercise earlier this week, political campaigns by parties and candidates hit a fever pitch. And if you think it's only the election candidates and their parties who gained the max out of the whopping Rs 30,000 crore spent in the process, know that there were other beneficiaries as well. Alcohol: One of the industries that rakes in maximum moolah during the election time is the liquor industry. Economic Times reports that liquor production spikes by 10-15 percent during election run and remains so even after elections. As a matter of fact, political parties horde large batches of liquor ahead of polls to distribute to voters after counting is over.

Tourism: Another industry to gain majorly out of election spendings is the tourism trade. Tour operators and hoteliers try to come up with new theme-based holiday packages around elections. Endorsed as the 'Kumbh Mela' of elections, tour operators, online sales agents, speciality and niche guide-tour firm cash in on the five-week-long election polling exercise.

Transport: Even transports rakes in big moolah during election. Candidates hire vehicles like taxis, buses, autos and trucks  for their campaigns in significant numbers. This, in return, boost fuel consumption as well as a rise in the salaries of drivers, who end up cashing in a lot of money during these months.

Campaign materials: During the election time, demand for materials like vinyl box posters, flex, paper posters, cut-outs, banners, flags, handbills, kites, caps and umbrellas printed with party symbols sky-rockets. Traders say that they find it impossible to cope with the bulk orders.

Digital marketing: The growing reach of election campaigning on the social media has significantly boosted the revenues of digital platforms. A study revealed that a whopping Rs 400-500 crore on  of the was spend on digital media advertisement and publicity this year. India revenue for Google and social networking websites like Twitter and Facebook rose substantially with political parties frittering more and more cash on digital media than ever.

Private security: Over two lakh gun-toting paramilitary personnel have been stationed across the country to ensure smooth polling. Besides, there are  additional security for the politicians. Many politicians also hire other security guards from private service providers, thereby boosting security trade like no other time.
