Forget the lawbreakers, even keepers of law have their hands unclean.

According to the latest RTI report, around 100 Delhi policeman have been accused of rape and molestation in the national capital over the decade. Around 70 policemen are accused of rape and 30 policemen slapped with molestation and eve-teasing charges. But the shame doesn't end there.

Several duty-bound policeman in the city have been held for attempting gang-rape. What's more shocking is that despite charges as grave as rape and molestation, most of these policemen are out on bail and are posted at several police stations across Delhi.

The documents revealed that most of the accused policemen are still serving with Delhi Police," said RTI activist Rajhans Bansal - a resident of Rohini – who had filed the RTI query.

 

From 2009 to 2013, there has been a drastic spike in policemen's involvement in rape.

"The figures suggest that in last five years, number of rape and molestation cases involving police has increased tremendously," Bansal said.

However, last year, for the first time ever, two constables - Amit Tomar and Gurjinder Singh - were dismissed and arrested for attempting to sexually assault an underprivileged juvenile girl at northwest Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar.
