Finally, a 'big' day for Arvind Kejriwal and his team of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)leaders, who are all set to form the government in Delhi today.

The big decision comes after AAP went through the last leg of the referendum, seeking opinion on government formation with Congress support from outside. Based on the big results of the virtual referendum, AAP has agreed to ally with Congress, but on conditional grounds, to form the next government in the national capital.

The anti-corruption campaigner is likely to be designated as the chief minister of Delhi today. Kejriwal will officially meet Delhi lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung at 12.30 pm to stake the claim.

However, unlike the ostentatious power enjoyed by the duopoly BJP and Congress, Kejriwal and his team would kickstart their power run by lopping off the VIP culture — eschewing cars fitted with red beacons and screeching hooters and foregoing the sprawling bungalows in Lutyens' Delhi for regular accommodation.

With just sixth months before the LS polls, AAP plans to spring into early action by fulfilling some of its promises like providing 700 litres of water to all households and auditing power companies whom he transformed into symbols of his fight for the party.

"We have six months in power before the LS polls but this is the time when I will also be traveling all over to campaign for the party. It is a huge challenge for me but in the coming few days, we will work out how this will be managed," Kejriwal said.

Buzz is that the swearing-in ceremony would take place at either Jantar Mantar or Ramlila Maidanthan the cloistered confines of Delhi's Raj Bhavan. Kejriwal is set to be Delhi's youngest chief minister to date at 45.

The swearing-in ceremony is expected to include a stopover at Rajghat to honour Mahatma Gandhi.

Immediately after that, AAP plans to press on with its program. "We have no intention of going to any party for assistance. If Congress withdraws support at any time, we will go back to the people and ask for a re-election. However, till the time AAP is in power, we will try and implement as many of our promises as is possible," Kejriwal revealed.
