The BJP told Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung in a formal meeting on Thursday that inspite of emerging as the single largest party in the city-state, they do not have the majority numbers required to form government in the 70-member Delhi assembly.

The Aam Aadmi Party(AAP), which has 28 MLAs, will be the next choice of the LG. However, AAP is unlikely to take the offer as even they do not have the sufficient numbers.

Najeeb Jung is assessing the situation in Delhi and if no party comes-up to form government then in all probability by early next week the LG will send his report to the centre, based on which it will be decided whether President's rule is to be the solution to the situation before repoll takes place.
