Indian tennis player Sania Mirza won her third mixed doubles Grand Slam title with partner Bruno Soares at the US Open on Friday. The Indo-Brazilian partnership squandered five straight championship points before winning 6-1 2-6 11-9 over the USA-Mexico pair of Abigail Spears and Santiago Gonzalez.

The match lasted for exactly 60 minutes.

This was the first partnership of Sania Mirza and Bruno Soares at the grand slam.

Sania, who was very excited after the win said playing with Soares was fun. The Indian ace tennis star even said that she has no idea why he didn’t play with her for all these years. Sania Mirza confirmed that their partnership will continue in the Australian Open.

Previously, Sania won the titles with fellow Indian Mahesh Bhupathi. Their partnership won Australian Open in 2009 and French Open in 2012.
