Just 28 years old and  owner of 14 Grand Slam titles including a record nine French Opens — now what  would you call one such first-rate champion? Rafael Nadal, of course.

The finals of a French open has never been this spectacular. The ailing Djokovic was beaten by Nadal, who himself was troubled by a backache  to bag another Grand Slam win. His new record gives rise to  only one question: How many French Open’s will Nadal eventually win?

We don't know about fifteen, but ten for sure, depending on his form and fitness. With Nadal around, the opposition barely matters, it hadn't mattered in the last10 years, with the exception of Robin Soderling and Andy Murray.

He clocked his ninth French title in 10 years with his win against Djokovic. With a staggering record of 66-1 at the clay court of Grand Slam and win-loss record of 90-1, his latest win takes his title tally to 45 – second in the all-time list, just one behind Guillermo Vilas.

What makes his win all the more spectacular is that in 8 out of 9 title runs, Rafa has beaten Djokovic (6 times) and Roger Federer (5 times) en route. So his titles have come against the best of the bests in the recent times. Hail!
