IPL Fever: Delhi tames Chennai

IPL 5 has sprung some good surprises with Rajasthan Royals and Pune Warriors played and won two matches stand tall with 4 points each. Delhi and Mumbai also with 4 points but after playing 3 matches (won 2 lost 1).

Indian Premier League defies all forms of thrills with the latest points tally. The 45 day ordeal is sure to raise the summer mercury levels in the stadia than outside. That could be the sole reason for the adulation by innumerable fans, across the country. Well let us have a look at how the fever plummeted on Tuesday. The venue was the historic Ferozshah Kotla at New Delhi. Delhi Dare Devils (DDD) took over the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The scales suggest that the DDD captain Virendra Sehwag is set to mean purely business. (Off the record this is his beat chance to avenge the Mr Cool). Let us get into some serious business. DDD won the match by eight wickets in 13.2 overs.

Chennai’s prospects were initially ruined by the damp weather and some technical issue due to the lights behind the screen. On the whole the match started a bit late due to some showers. Being a local boy Sehwag opted to field after winning the conditions. Aware of the home pitch conditions, Sehwag played his cards well. And the CSK debacle started with the first ball claiming the priced wicket of Murali Vijay in a fast call. CSK ended up with a 110 for the loss of 8 wickets.  The batsmen who shined on the CSK side were Bravo who made a 22-run knock in the end. Raina made 17 runs, Du Plesis and Badrinath scored 15 each. The bowling of the South African pacer Morne Morkel, who was also adjudged Man of the Match, was the pick of the Daredevils bowlers, bagging two for 19. Irfan and Umesh bagged one each. While the rest of the CSK batsmen succumbed to pressure in the form of run outs.

The DDD which came out to bat fared very well by just giving one wicket to Ravinder Aswin and scored 111 for the loss of 2 wickets and wound up the match in just 13.2 overs. The batting honor goes to K Peterson who played a magnificent innings of 43 not out. He was aided by his skipper Sehwag, who made 33 runs. It was the home team’s victory that was much rejoiced by the crowds. (AarKay)
