Ajit Agarkar appointed as chairman of the Selection Committee

With only three months left for the ODI World Cup, BCCI has made key changes to the selection committee. Former Indian cricketer Ajit Agarkar has been appointed as the chairman of the selection committee for the Indian cricket men’s team by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Ajit Agarkar currently is in London and gave an interview to the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) on Tuesday consisting of Sulakshana Naik, Ashok Malhotra and Jatin Paranjape. He will be the fifth person to join the committee along with Shiv Sunder Das, Salil Ankola, Subroto Banerjee and Sridharan Sharath.

The post was vacant after Chetan Sharma resigned after a sting operation by newschannel. Ajit Agarkar will now select the team for T20Is and also for the 2024 world cup. Hardik Pandya will remain the captain of the Indian Cricket team for T20.

Ajit Agarkar was a former Indian bowler, who played 26 tests, 191 ODIs and four T20s. He was the only person to be interviewed for the post. He will be charging the fee as the chief selector post of Rs 1Cr, which is 90 Lakhs for the other members. Agarkar applied for the selector post in 2020 and where BCCI did not pick him for the post then.
