High Court To Listen to Dhoni's Defamation Suit

Ace cricketer of Indian cricket team Mahendra Singh Dhoni's defamation petition was considered by Madras High Court. Dhoni filed a defamation suit on Tamil Nadu cadre IPS officer Sampath Kumar.

On Monday Madras high court has accepted to listen to the contempt of court case on IPS officer placed by former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni. But generally, the contempt of court cases will be heard on every Thursday, which is on the 15th of June and hence Dhoni’s case also will be heard on the same day.

IPS officer Sampath Kumar and Zee media company were sued by Dhoni for naming him in an IPL betting scam in 2014. He also filed Rs 100Cr defamation case on both the IPS officer and Zee. While a single court bench refused any relief for Dhoni and the court did not squash the interrogations raised. While Zee went for appeal on Dhoni’s questions.

Dhoni was clear that the written statement made by the IPS officer amounted to scandalizing the court proceedings and filed the defamation case for his objectionary statements.
