Stuart Binny is joining the Indian cricket team before the second Test against Sri Lanka that is scheduled to start in Colombo from August 20, Thursday. BCCI announced the decision to call the all-rounder on their official Twitter handle.

The 31-year-old, Stuart Binny, will now join the Indian team as the 16th member ahead of the next Test. Second Test is scheduled at P Sara Oval in Colombo, while India has lost the first test by 63-run loss against Sri Lanka. The selection committee was against sending the reinforcement initially, sources said.

Two reasons, which resulted for the request of the extra man include Murali Vijay’s injury and Shikhar Dhawan’ fitness. In the first Test, Shikhar batted with a bruised hand in the second innings.

Last year in England, Binny made his Test debut scoring 78 in the second innings and earning praise from the then Test captain MS Dhoni. Binny’s style of bowling will not suit conditions in Sri Lanka. Experts estimate that P Sara Oval might offer a little more bounce but with hardly any lateral movement. Also, reverse swing becomes redundant at Binny’s pace.
