Indian cricket captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, wants to use the time before the ODI home series against South Africa to work with the Indian army. His love for the armed forces is well known.

Although he has plans to spend with his family, as of now he is looking to work with the army before the home series begins. He could go ahead and visit soldiers posted on the border and even help in creating awareness among people.

In November 2011, the Territorial Army awarded the rank of honorary lieutenant colonel in the elite Parachute Regiment to Dhoni for his contribution in cricket. M. S. Dhoni, who retired from Test cricket, made it clear then that he wanted to serve the army after his retirement from cricket.

"Why I got here is because of cricket. I would like to serve actively in the Army only after cricket. I don’t want my cricket to suffer because that is something I am good at. Once my cricket career is over, I would definitely like to serve in the Army," Dhoni had said earlier.

An array of superstar-friends greeted M. S. Dhoni, who turned 34 on 7 July 2015, on his birthday.
