Another momentous feat for former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly.

The former captain of Indian Cricket team was conferred a titular Doctor of Letters degree by the Bengal Engineering and Science University yesterday.

Affectionately known as 'Dada', Kolkata based former cricketer was awarded for his immense contribution in the field of sports by Governor M. K. Narayanan at the Howrah campus.

"While I was walking after receiving the honour, Derek asked me whether this was my first one. I couldn't tell him because I had to come up and give my speech. This was not my first one but definitely my best one. This is special because it comes from the state of West Bengal", said the former player.

Oneof the most successful captains of the Indian team, Ganguly quit playing on 2008 after having played for over a decade. A go-getter by nature, Ganguly is lauded for having nurtured the careers of many young players and metamorphosing the Indian team into an aggressive team.

Currently, he is the 5th highest run scorer in One Day Internationals (ODIs) and the 3rd player in history of cricket to surpass the 10,000 run landmark, after Sachin Tendulkar and Inzamam Ul Haq.
