It was a series for the most precious prize in cricket, a test of honor and pride that bought two warring foes together in the pitch for the umpteenth time, a run for the urn - it was the series of the Ashes!

After a spate of controversies, torpedo of bad-mouth sledging, and some fine display of cricket, Australia reclaimed the urn from their arch nemesis, as Johnson took the final wicket and sparked celebrations across Australia.

England lost the Ashes to Australia as the players toppled for 353 on the final game at the WACA ground, to deliver the hosts an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the five match series.

With this, the Aussies capped a remarkable turnaround, who went into the series just months after a 3-0 Ashes loss in England.

"I don't really know what to say. We've got them back, I couldn't be happier," Clarke said of the Ashes.

"Credit to the team for how they played: they were outstanding."

Despite English batsman Ben Stokes maiden Test century fraying Australian nerves, the home team ran through the English tail after lunch to claim a famous victory.

The Australians had clinched the first two Tests in Brisbane and Adelaide and secured the urn when paceman Mitchell Johnson claimed his 23rd wicket of the series, and closed the second innings for England.

With the Ashes have been regained, Clarke is eying to move up in world Test cricket rankings.
