You might have anti-virus to protect your computer, RO purifier to cleanse water, vacuum to mop and clean office floors. But a few big questions still remains: How safe is your workplace? Is your office really germ-free? Is your work station making you ill? Not really, we fear.

Besides these common areas of germ infestation, there are zillion other places where germ breeds at your work place. And no, we aren't talking about the loo alone. From your sink faucets to vending machines and from your refrigerator door handles to water fountain buttons, these creepy crawlies, invisible to the naked eye, exist everywhere and can make you ill, very ill. Today we enlighten you on the three problem areas in your work place that could be the bastion of disease-spreading bacteria and germs. Read away!

Germy place #1: Faucet handles
Think washing your hands with a soapy solution post taking a leak would germ-free your hands? Then listen to this. Nearly 75 percent of the faucet handles in the offices were found to be the hotbed of germs.

Your move: Instead of using your hands, turn off the faucet with a paper towel, your sleeve or your wrist. After all, how likely are you to eat or rub your eye with your wrist?

Germy place #2: Microwave door handles
Believe it or not, your office microwave handles are favorite bastion of bacteria. “But unless you have an illness that’s compromised your immune system, touching the microwave handle isn’t terribly risky.” However, asking your house keeping staff to scrub the handles everyday with a mild detergent is enough to wash away 99 percent of viruses and bacteria.

Germy place #3: Keyboards
Possibly one of the dirtiest corners of your office, your keyboard is a germ magnet. Your fingers secrete oils and amino acids which attracts hungry bacteria. Wipe clean your keyboard every few weeks with a sanitizing wipe or a bit of rubbing alcohol. Also, scrub your digits clean before pigging out at the burrito while having lunch at desk. Better yet, don't eat at your workstation. That way, you will be safer.
