Flipkart deceived by Hyderabad man for over Rs 20 lakh

A Hyderabad youth named Veera Swamy, 32, has allegedly deceived leading e-commerce portal Flipkart for more than 20 lakh rupees by booking orders and returning other goods upon delivery.

Veera Swamy of Vanasthalipuram used to place the orders for valuable electronic items at Flipkart. The orders were placed on the names of father, mother, brothers, wife, and others in the neighborhood. After the delivery of items, he would make complain calls to the call centers citing poor quality. When the representatives from the company come to collect them back, he used to retain the original item and stuff fake item in the box. The model number and item code would be written back as received.

It is said that he created fake e-mail ids and bank payments were made through different accounts. After collecting the goods, Flipkart used to return payments.

Using different names, Veera Swamy have made over 200 purchases in last 20 months. Flipkart claimed huge loss of Rs 20 lakh as per the lodged complaint.

P Pushpan Kumar, police inspector Vanasthalipuram, is investigating the case and said, "We are verifying the contents of the complaint and the accused version.”
