'Independence Day' sequel will reportedly not feature Hollywood star Will Smith. The squel titled 'ID Forever Part 1' will not star the 45-year-old actor due to budget constraints.

Will Smith had played the role of Captain Steven Hiller in the hit sci-fi film. Roland Emmerich, director of the first film, had written two scripts. One version has Captain Steven Hiller and the other script does not.

The film will reportedly be made whether Smith is part of the project or not in it. Apparently, Michael B Jordan is in talks to star in the project as the lead character.

Initially, the sequel of 'Independence Day' was set for July 3, 2015, but now the project has been postponed to July 1, 2016.
